Harold Clurman Center for New Works in Movement and Dance (MAD) presents

Insects in Heat

Created and performed by Dawn Akemi Saito, directed by Jonathan Rosenberg

Friday, November 15, 2019 at 7:30 PM

Insects in Heat is a solo multi-disciplinary theatre piece about Mizu, who transports herself into her dead other’s nightmares, and discovers and imagines her mother’s memory of a first love that ended in tragedy.

Mizu travels through a surrealistic landscape where she conjures a matriarchal ancestor, as well as a retro-futuristic dream character to help her reflect upon the sensual and violently aberrant power of the cycle of giving birth and taking life.
